About Pearson Catalyst and APIs:
Pearson Catalyst for Education is an edtech accelerator run by Pearson. The programme launched in early 2013. The aim is to work with the most promising edtech startups and shape the future of education together. Prior to the programme start, Pearson businesses submit their business needs which startups then apply against. The top 3-5 startups are chosen and are further narrowed down to 1 startup per challenge. These startups will then work on the business challenge together with the Pearson business during a 3-month pilot programme.
Last year Pearson Catalyst had 5 startups who completed the programme. Out of these 5, there are 3 partnership agreements with Pearson underway. You can read more about the startups here.
This year, they have doubled the number of startups they want to work with to 10. They recently closed applications and over the next month few weeks will be narrowing down the applicants in order to determine which startup they will be working with for the next round. The startups will be announced around the 27th of May.
Pearson also has APIs, which they make available internally and externally to developers via developer.pearson.com and pdn.pearson.com. The APIs cover various topics such as travel, food, education and literature.
